Previous to 1910 there was no Methodist Church in Longview Mississippi.

Instead, there was a "union" church composed of Baptists, Methodists, and Presbyterians. In 1910 on what is now Longview Road, the Longview Methodist Church was constructed. In 1915 a parsonage was built beside the church.

Originally, Longview was on a seven church charge with Adaton (then Steele's Chapel), Bevill Hill, Cedar Bluff, Pheba, Pugh's Mill and Smyrna. These churches were served by a "circuit rider" preacher. The Smyrna church was discontinued in 1949. In 1950 the Pheba and Cedar Bluff churches were placed on another circuit. In 1964 Bevill's Hill was assigned to the Louisville charge, leaving Adaton, Pugh's Mill and Longview together.

Our present building was completed in 1956. While the men worked as carpenters, the women pulled nails out of boards from the old church so they could be reused. They also sorted lumber, painted, and cooked to feed the work crew. A new parsonage was dedicated in 1975. A large new fellowship hall was added in 1999.

The Longview Church is an active church offering opportunities for worship, Bible study, and fellowship. Please come and join us in worship and fellowship.
